"Recipe for Choosing an Incredible CANTALOUPE"
7-8-01

The top of the day to you.

I have been besieged with requests on how to choose a great Cantaloupe when people are shopping. And it's always such a pleasure when I see someone at the melon section of the supermarket, where I shop, walking away with a huge smile on their face when I show them how to finally get a good Cantaloupe every time they pick one up.

Here's the trick to it and actually there's really no trick, it's all a science and it's a snap when you know how.

Remember when I was sharing with you how to choose an Awesome HoneyDew Melon? As with any melon we need to use all 5 of our senses to pick that just right melon.

SIGHT FIRST: Look for the richest color and the color should be golden looking with lots of webbing and make sure the webbing is full all the way around it. If it has patches of webbing here and there, then chances are it might be gnarly.

TOUCH SECOND: Now feel them and if they feel real hard then it was probably picked too green and will never have that real sweet flavor cantaloupes are distinguished with. I see so many people trying to push their finger through the melon to see if it's good. That's not a good thing to do, as surely it will bruise. Take the ball of your thumb and go around the Cantaloupe with ease and see if it has the same texture all over and if it does then you know that it has symmetry with not only the density of it but also with a better chance of it being picked from the vine properly.

SMELL THIRD: Smell it for its distinct smell and the sweeter the smell, of course it has the best chance of being great.

HEARING FOURTH: Pick up the Cantaloupe and shake it. If the seeds shake or even if they don't, that's a good sign. But if they sound soupy and slushy, then that's a bad sign. That means it's too far gone...probably sour inside and ready to burst.

TASTE LAST: Sometimes if you are at a farmer's Market they will let you plug it if there are confident with their produce and let you taste it. And sometimes there might be some samples of the Cantaloupes in a dish for you to try. If those samples are sweet then look at the color and texture of the skin of that sample and chances are you have a great melon. But if you do the 1st four steps correctly then the 5th one should be slam-dunk.

Enjoy all the melons this summer with great excitement knowing, not wishing, hoping or praying, but KNOWING that you are going to get a great one every time you pick one out. You'll be surprised at how many people will come over to you and ask you how to do it. :>)

You've got to try it a few times as you will miss once in a while but in no time you'll have it down pat. Keep trying is the rule that must be followed to become successful in anything.

Your success in anything is connected with action. Keep moving towards your goal. You'll make mistakes but don't quit. You may even have to hang on after others have let go.

Persistence means taking pains to overcome every obstacle, to do all that's necessary to reach your goal.

In the end, the only people who fail are those who do not try. All great achievement takes time.

Use "The Food Combining Guide" which is now in 36 countries for the times when Melons are in season and how long they take to digest and what to eat them with for the finest digestion. These can be found on our website www.themangoman.com and click on Products, then scroll to the bottom of the page and click on Individual Items. There you will find both Health Guides.

All my best to you and enjoy the best in life as pretty soon it's all over and you'll be one of those "Wish I would have and wish I could have." I hear so many people telling me that they don't have time that all their time is used up already. Well this is just plain nonsense, as I've never heard of anyone using only 22 hours of his or her day up. We ALL use our 24 hours up. It's the choosing of what we do with those 24 hours that make the big difference. I love helping you. It's your call!
