The top of the day to you.
I like to eat the things that are in season for a number of reasons!
1) They are the cheapest at that time,
2) There's a lot of them available = no shortages;
3) They replenish me with what I need for that time of year;
4) They keep me from being bored with eating the same food all the time. And
a host of other benefits.
So I went to my favorite grocery store this morning and lo and behold the Red
Seedless Grapes are down to $0.79 per pound. I thought, "stop the show
as I'm loading up". I will be giving you a terrific recipe with grapes
next week.
My great friend, Dr. Roger Scott who is one of the finest and most caring dentists
I've ever known, came by my house today to pick up the last of the Sun Dried
Organic Mangoes to last us through the rest of the year. I will eat them especially
when I'm on the road and if I can't find what I want to eat or if I'm stuck
in an airport waiting for a connecting flight, I always have a back-up in my
carry-on baggage.
So I made him a drink with the grapes and he went ballistic. Can't wait to
share that one with you next week.
Anyway I also saw where broccoli and cauliflower were both on sale for $0.99
each. I bought 3 of each and came home to fix dinner tonight after a long bike
ride on the beach (30 miles and 15 of it was against a hard wind, so I was tired
when I got home and was ready to eat something quick and easy but very nutritious.
Check this recipe out.
In 2 cups of distilled water, steam 1 head of Broccoli and 1 Head of Cauliflower
for 1 minute only! Then put everything in your Vita-Mix or Thermomix along with
the water it steamed in PLUS one half Avocado. Blend this up and it becomes
a smooth thick rich broth.
You can eat this as is or add to your favorite Starch Dish (it could be my
Sweet Rice I mentioned last week and for any of you who would like to have that
one let me know and out it goes to you right a way) or Protein (whatever source
you like) Dish!
Best to you on the fantastic Labor Day Weekend.
